![]() ![]() ![]() You, like me, may have been put off from reading Michener before by bad advice. It’s odd, but not having to either buy reprint editions or crack open dusty and crumbling paperbacks made reading Michener seem new to me, as if I were encountering contemporary books instead of novels that are thirty to forty years old. I spent many pleasurable hours listening to the audiobook versions of the books when I wasn’t reading words on a page. ![]() In the process, I discovered an American master I never suspected existed. I spent an entire year reading through the novels of James Michener, especially the “saga” novels of the 1970s and 80s. ![]() ![]() ![]() This book tells the story of young Noah and Cooper, who met on a football field at the age of 10 and were best friends from that point forward, until Noah and his parents moved away. Ursula was plain awful with her singing, looked like it was a voice over and she was clueless on what was going on in the scene. ![]() The think that disgusted me the most was how out of tune the old songs were, and it's a shame because Halle has a great voice, but time and time again she was out of tune with the music. With her best friend, the adorable and chatty Flounder, and her reluctant chaperone Sebastian, the hilarious, reggae-singing Caribbean crab, at her side, Ariel must win the prince’s love and save her father’s kingdom all in a heart-pounding race against time. I think there are three new songs, the Halle Bailey one was good and original, the others quite meh. Some scenes from the original are gone and some others are added. The story is basically the same but stretched. Ursula is bad, fails to make the character her own and just copies the original but badly. With her best friend, the adorable and chatty Flounder, and her reluctant chaperone Sebastian, the hilarious, reggae-singing Caribbean crab, at her side, Ariel must win the prince’s love and save her father’s kingdom all in a heart-pounding race against time. Eric is ok too as well as Bardem as Triton. ![]() ![]() Halle Bailey doesn't do it bad as Ariel, her acting is ok and she has a great voice. The movie tries too hard to be what it is not, it would have worked way better as a new original story even if it was based on the same tale. The original 1989 movie was one of my favorites as a child although I enjoyed more Aladdin and the lion king. ![]() ![]() ![]() We counter fear’s first moving part with BICBOF: BREATH IN COURAGE, BLOW OUT FEAR.
